Barley Guitars -

Located in the small village of Lake Ann, located about 10 miles outside of  Traverse City in N.W. Michigan. A one man shop owned and operated by Jim Barley. I started playing guitar and woodworking with my Dad around the age of 13. I've also been working on and building guitars for quite a few years now. I'm fortunate to be mentored by my friend and sometimes boss Master Luthier Ken McKay of Up North Strings - check him out here.  My mission and passion is to build incredible sounding dependable instruments that the professional or discerning amateur musician can feel confident using in all aspect of their craft. I am also a specialist in building custom electronics for guitars so if you have a need please feel free to contact me. Thanks for visiting my site.

Style & Quality

Each Barley Guitar is unique and crafted with the highest quality woods and components. I strive for vintage correct but don't compromise on modern techniques when called for.

The guitar is a small orchestra. It is polyphonic. Every string is a different color, a different voice.
